Intro:

Welcome onboard this flight report about Air Japan, This time its about something special one of the last flights off this airline something which hurted me as an avgeek especially with this kind of experience.

About Air Japan:

Air Japan is the low cost carrier of the flag carrier ANA, Started in 1990 as World Air Network, Made their first flight back in 1e of January 2001, years later they rebranded as Air Japan on 5th of July 2000, and again in 2022 as Air Japan again. They had a fleet of two Boeing 787-8 leased from ANA painted in Air Japan colorscheme and refitted the whole cabin in the Air Japan style since 2024. Their main and only hub was Narita international airport Tokyo.

Boarding:

Minutes before boarding we were called to the desk at the gate because there was an small issue near the seat, Apperantly something went leaking on the floor during the last flight so they asked if its fine with us and if anything is wrong we had to tell them when we arrived in the plane there was no sign of a Wet floor at all everything looked perfectly fine and clean even the other rows looked fine, While European carrier most of the time dont care about this Japan is making sure expertise is at the highest level even for an low cost carrier.

Services:

While boarding crew allready stood ready to help everybody with their luggage and making sure everybody got their space for any of the luggage. Crew went up and down the aircraft while pushback and taxiing to make sure the safety procedure was followed like it should even every overhead bin was checked twice if it was closed.

Meals/snacks:

They offered some drink on this flight with options between softdrinks and water and even coffee and tea, They came back to me to offer another drink without any costs.

Airplane (interior):

The Air Japan B787-8 was an former ANA 787 but they refitted the whole cabin with recaro seats in the Air Japan house style colors and headrest. There was no IFE screens available althought the free wifi was really fast and good to watch movies on or just having a chat with your favorite person, Legroom was wide enough if your a dutchies not bad at all for an low cost carrier. 

Crew:

The crew were helpful and always stood around in the plane with a smile and passion something you dont see often. The crew also took safety as priority number one always checking everything multiple times diming the lights, seats up right and seatbelts fastened whenever needed.

Cleanlines:

Air Japan made an good clean product no waste no dirt and even no stains, This aircrafts been in services for 11 years and with the 3 years old refitted interior and all the expertise from the handlers and the airline the plane looked brand new, So you can see the passion and the care people can give to the planes if they just really care about it good job Air Japan!

Over all experience:

Air Japan was pretty decent low cost carrier, Some low cost carriers can learn a lot from airliners like these where everything must be perfect from safety to service. To be honest i still am not happy they cease operations i would fly them again above all other Japanese low cost carriers.
